I was dying to play this game and when I got it I was so satisfied. I can never pass up a Street Fighter game. It's the game of all fighting games. It's the game that brought the fighting genre to the gaming world. Every other fighting game follows in its foots steps so I must show my loyalty. Though I already have it for my Dreamcast it's kind of boring just playing it by myself. I got it for the online aspects. It's basically the same game just like the fans asked for.
Although I think it would've been nice to give an HD update just like they did for Super Street Fighter 2. I have that one and it was refreshing to see the game made brand new. I secretly wish they would've done the same for Street Fighter 3. Unfortunately the fans dub this Street Fighter game as the best fighter ever made so because of this Capcom didn't want to stray too far from the original game. I just wish that they could've made some kind of HD option for the game where people could switch back and forth between SD and HD. That would've been nice to see.
Like I said the game is still the same game as the original. Nothing was changed but an online aspect was added to give players an added feature of gameplay. The game is now integrated with collectibles like artwork, stages, and music. Street Fighter 3 is also bundled with challenge and trial game modes. The challenge mode is comprised of various tasks that you perform throughout the game like performing special moves or combos. In the trial mode you must complete various tasks of combos, parrying, and winning matches against other fighters with a depleted life bar. Completing tasks in each mode will gain you points to unlock collectables. It's not an easy thing to do and I don't think I'll ever finish both modes. Your trophies are tied in to those modes as well. So if you're a trophy whore like I am its gonna take some work to complete those.
There are all kinds of challenges to choose from here
The Challenge mode is broken don into 4 categories. Each has tons of challenges to complete
I wonder if there is anyone that's mastering everything in the Trial mode. There's a lot of hard stuff in there.
This is Akuma's Combo Master
There are 5 different levels for each fighter to master
I definitely need some parrying training
I've played some people online and they've got it down cold
Apart from kicking people's butts online in ranked mode you can also create your own matches, join in tournaments, or sit back and relax while you watch other people duke it out. Now you've been able to do those in other Street Fighter games before but the newest feature is being able to upload your matches to YouTube. I've already uploaded a couple of mine just for the sake of doing it. It's not bad at all and it's pretty seamless and fast depending on what connection you have. I played five matches this morning and I won online matches so I'm feeling really good right now. lol
Aside from having some of the strangest characters ever in a Street Fighter game, all and all the game is great. It's just as good as it was when it came out. The online features are nice. The challenge and trial modes keep you engaged in the game. Fighting an opponent online is virtually seamless. I never really noticed and lagging or spottiness. The matches that I've played in have ran so smooth. Now that I've said my piece about the game check out Gamespot's critical review.
