So I was browsing around in Meijer the other day. Actually I went in to by some shipping tape for my mom and dad because I was helping them ship some things back home to Nigeria. As I always do, I browsed the electronic section of the store. Every retail store I go to I have to, I must, check out the electronic department. Ok, back to the story. I had been looking for a PlayStation 2 controller for my PS2. My original controllers I threw away because they were old and broken. I wanted to play God of War 2 before I played God of War 3 which I have on my PS3.
Ok so here's the story I bought God of War 3 for my PS3 last year when it originally game out. To this day I have only played it one time. The moment that I played it was very brief because I wanted to finished God of War 2. So now I'm just getting around to doing that. I know it sounds lame to do something like that but I can't play a new game without playing the original one. The only way I can play the new game is if it was some sort of prequel to the old one. I know, call me crazy, ha ha! lol Like for instance if Gears of War 3 came out today, I couldn't play it without playing the first 2. I would be so thrown off from the story.
Ok, so now getting back to my original story in Meijer. I asked one of the store clerks if they had any PlayStation 2 controllers and he said that they didn't. Now he said they didn't but obviously he didn't know about this particular one which I found after I had finished talking with him. Now it's not particularly an official PlayStation 2 controller. This is a hybrid of sorts. This game pad is funcitional on the PC, PlayStation 2, and the PlayStation 3 hence the 3 in 1 tag that its labeled as. When I saw that it had the PS2 functionality I had to get it. It wasn't the best price but it was fair, I guess. :-/ Just $29, $15 more than I had hoped to pay for. It was still an ok enough price for me to buy it though.
Its a small controller, smaller than the average game pads gamers use these days, but not that much smaller. It fits right in my hand. The game pad also has nice rubber grips for you to hold on to. That should cure the sweaty palm syndrome that gamers get when they're on that very last level or mission. It has all the buttons that you could want for your PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3. You can even program moves if you wanted to. I would love to do that for Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. A one button dragon punch and fireball wouldn't be too bad.
I stood the camera on a candle because I didn't my hands in the shot lol
The Wireless 3 In 1 runs on a wireless adapter
That's my PlayStation 2 sitting on top of my old original Xbox
Still works!
The controller has a power switch and a motor switch which are good energy savers
The down side is that this controller is not USB powered. It takes 3 AAA batteries to run it. Luckily I had some AAA rechargeable batteries. I put them in my battery charger, charged them up, and they were good to go. I was playing my PS2 in no time. The fact that it's not USB powered doesn't bother me too much. All I cared about was that it worked at all. Luckily it does. I know some people might find it too much of a hassle to charge batteries but you have to think about it like this, in this day and age what is it that you own that doesn't need to be powered by some kind of charger function? Almost all of your personal items need some kind of charging. Take a look at my video showing the wireless controller in action.
