I don't know how this game slipped passed me but it did. I was just browsing around through the PlayStation Blog and I found this. I wish I would've found this earlier because it would've made a great piece. The game is called Amy: The Faces of Horror. It's a unique survival horror created by Paul Cuisset, of Vector Cell and Lexis Games, who is credited for the classic game Flashback.
The game starts off with a woman by the name of Lana. The events takes place in the future, 2034, in a small Midwestern town called Silver City. She has just regained consciousness from being in a train accident. She awakens only to find that the world as she knew it was in disarray. The people that she saw as normal have become progressively violent and unstable. They act as if they have been plagued by some virulent disease which is what exactly happens. The towns people have either gone mad or transformed into hideous creatures. She realizes danger closes near and plans to make her way for an escape before the situation becomes deadly.
Though she is ill prepared for her self preservation her plan is to make it out alive by any means necessary. Her plan become altered as runs into a help little girl named Amy who is caught in the middle of the frey and chaos. Now Lana must make the decision to protect this girl from all the madness. In this game both Lana and Amy will rely on each other as they try to make it out of the city to reach a safe haven.
On their journey they com across several obstacles like monsters and elite soldiers. They will also come across other survivors who have spared themselves from the mass effect of an outbreak. In the game you will find that Amy is not just dead weight as you try to make it out of the city together. She will prove most useful to you as the game progresses. You see Lana is infected by the mysterious plague or virus just like the other towns people. She begins to gradually deteriorate and decay. While the other people have no cure Lana is cured by Amy. Amy is unaffected by the disease and is somehow able to relieve Lana of her own ailments. The cure only lasts as long as she is with Amy though so they must find a way to help one another.
The added difficulty in the game is that Amy is impaired. She cannot speak. She can only communicate with Lana via a series of gestures that she makes. She'll be able to let you know if you're in immediate danger or not. Another way would be by holding her hand. If she tugs or pulls she's letting you know that their maybe something to be gained.
The game has the added stealth element where you can hide from your enemies. Both Lana and Amy can hide from their enemies and escape interaction or Lana can hide Amy in a safe area while she engages the enemy in order to protect her. There are no traditional weapons in the game. So when stealth doesn't appear to be an option you must use makeshift weapons to defeat your foes.
It a different kind of survival game that can't necessarily be compared to other survival horrors. I don't think anyone has played a horror game like this. I'm sure that it's gonna be a challenging game to play for sure. The game will be made available for download on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC later this fall. Check out the video below.
