You are a creative, talented, motivated and experienced Level Designer. You are inventive, love to build new things and develop a breadth of design skills.
You will communicate and collaborate well with a highly creative development team. You are adaptive in your thinking and in your ability to pick up new tools and techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Level Designer is responsible for design of a user experience and execution of that experience in the game engine.
Responsibilities include:
Implement major game play features to high quality, focusing on creating and implementing level designs.
Must have a clear understanding of and experience creating exciting level/environment designs from paper to product. This includes look and feel, gray boxes, game moments, game-flow, and balance.
Candidates must have passion for a broad range of game experiences, and be well versed in market trends and styles.
Contribute to build a collaborative environment with all disciplines, including production, art and engineering.
Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, and have a proven track record in AAA game design.
Responsible for developing level layouts, flow, balancing, within the limits specified by the game design and technical limits of the target platform.
Participate in meetings, weekly design reviews, and planning as part of effective communication with the team.
Must possess excellent organizational skills. Ability to implement, organize, and be responsible for a large number of in-game assets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2+ years minimum industry experience a must, with a minimum of one high-quality shipped title
• 2+ years Unreal Engine experience preferred. (Knowledge of Prefabs, Kismet, and Matinee)
• At least one current console generation title a plus
• Ability to create clear, visually-enhanced documents to communicate design ideas required
• Have a proactive work ethic, capable and creative problem solver who is not afraid of big challenges.

Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business and Microsoft Studios is driving entertainment industry wide change with Kinect for Xbox 360, our LIVE services and games, Windows gaming, and mobile gaming. Microsoft Studios (formerly MGS) is looking for a seasoned human resource professional to serve as a Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) in support of two of our key internal studios, 343 Industries (responsible for the Halo gaming franchise) and Platform Next Studios (pioneering experiences on Kinect).
This role has generalist/business partner responsibilities including developing, managing, implementing, and integrating HR programs and guidelines for the business in support of organizational objectives. This includes developing strong business relationships with senior management, studios leaders, and a unique to Microsoft client group including artists, game designers, and producers in addition to our strong traditional technical roles; developing and driving the people strategy for the business; analyzing and presenting information to the management team that enables good business decisions; and driving and supporting cross-group and cross-region client and HR initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
Business Partner - Understand the business, particularly the nature of creative content studios. Serve as a key member of the leadership team to assist in driving business results. Drive systemic organizational and people strategies that are aligned to the business strategy. Work closely with domestic and international HR partners to ensure seamless strategic management of the organization.
Change Agent - Partner with and coach business and studio leadership team to facilitate organization and culture change. Act as a catalyst for building organizational effectiveness within the studio and across the Microsoft Studios business. Educate business on HR trends that affect the business. Acquire business sponsorship for HR initiatives.
Project Management - Lead implementation of core HR programs into the business insuring an effective, sustainable people strategy over the long term. Provide business-specific feedback to the HR team for design and delivery improvement of client-ready solutions, including improved self-service models.
HR Generalist - includes responsibility for employee relations, manager coaching, compensation, legal compliance, performance management and appraisal, training and career counseling.
Employee Advocate - Build management capability to facilitate an open, inclusive, Microsoft Values-based environment that enables effective employee advocacy. Ensure role is perceived as an objective employee resource and escalation path for unresolved employee relations issues.
Candidates will possess strong generalist capabilities and proven business partner experience in a large, preferably high tech, rapidly changing business environment. Experience in the gaming or entertainment industry is a plus. Understanding of organizational dynamics and the ability to think strategically are essential. Strong knowledge of HR and ability to apply to complex organizational issues is required. Expert level generalist skills and the ability to develop talent, mentor, and provide guidance to the management team on complex issues. Strong consulting and analytical skills are essential. Ability to effectively work and communicate at all levels within the organization. A commitment to strategic business partnerships is a must. Must be able to multi-task, deal with ambiguity, work in a team environment, recognize trends, and identify systematic approaches to solving problems in this fast moving, dynamic environment. Qualifications should include a minimum of 7+ years of directly applicable HR experience. Demonstrated competence in coaching, employee relations, knowledge of employment laws and supervisory experience required.
