My new PS3 power supply came in the mail from Ebay yesterday. For those that don't know last week my old replacement died on me after only having it for ten months. I didn't even make it to a year. A lot of the reason it died was probably and maybe mostly all of my fault. I leave my PS3 on a lot. I always think that I'm gonna come back play it but I end up doing something else. I think I really pushed it to the limit. So when it finally died I didn't really get to mad.
So I get to the post office with my postal slip because I missed the delivery to my house. I must have been dead asleep. Oh nope, I was at work. I remember now. So I give the postal clerk my slip and she asks me for my identification. So I check my wallet and out of all the things to forget I forget my drivers license. The last thing that I wanted was to get sent away without my package. It was also closing time to which meant I would have had to come back the next day. I wasn't playin that.
So standing there thinking what to do and start flipping through my wallet remembering that I had cleaned out my wallet throwing all of my junk cards away. All I had that was close to valid identification was my crusty old social security card which I tried to pass off to the clerk who quickly saw I was trying to fast one over her eyes. She definitely called me out on it which was funny but she was really cool about it. She let me go ahead and walk with my package. In my mind I thought I was really pulling off a social engineering scheme like the former hacker and social engineering guru Kevin Mitnick. Unfortunately I was just a guy with some dumb luck.
I guess I can toss the old one now since it doesn't work anymore. The new one looks like a newer model than the old one. The metal covering is different and it seems to run more energy efficient. It runs a whole lot quieter and smoother than my last one. I could have easily bought a new one but I still have the PS3 that is fully backwards compatible. I can play my old PS1 and PS2 games on it still. I can't rightly give that up now could I?
So I got it installed and it works just fine just as I thought it would. I just hope that I won't have to repair this again anytime soon. It's not so much a hassle as it is a nuisance. At least I saved some cash from having to buy a new one.
If you're wondering where I bought this power supply I got it from gamepartswarehouse on Ebay. They have all kinds of parts for the latest game systems. I definitely know where to go if the other parts of my PS3 fail to work.
