UbiSoft came to play yesterday at the opening of the E3 convention yesterday. I was blown away by what they brought with them in their goodie bag. I loved what they did at the end by saving the best for last which was Assassin's Creed: Revelations. There were some other huge high lights as well.
I was never a big fan of Far Cry series but Far Cry 3 looked really good. I was impressed by the stage demo. I just wish they had a option of switching from first person to third. I'm not a big fan of the first person mode. Its sucks because a lot of great games seem to float towards that option. It just never feels like its me in that mode. It really feels like I'm on someone's back looking over their shoulder. Other than that its a great game.
There's nothing negative I can say about Rayman and I won't even try. This game series is what helped UbiSoft get their bread and butter. It also helped create their brand. I would say its more of a kids game to me but look who's talking. I play Sonic The Hedgehog games when I'm bored. lol The game did look really sharp though and I liked the dual tag along play they had in the stage demo. What I didn't like was those developers making those corny jokes leading into their demo segues. I believe this game will be another one of their legacy hits.
Rocksmith really caught my eye. I found it really interesting. It was like guitar hero with the exception of the game really teaching you how to play an actual guitar. The game comes with a real frickin guitar. How nice is that? I've always wanted to play wanted to play a guitar but I didn't want to have to pay somebody to learn. I might actually get this game, believe it or not, just to see how good and accurate it is. I'm definitely gonna channel my inner Lenny Kravitz with this one.
Driver San Francisco was ok, when I say ok I mean the trailer looked good. They didn't show me enough to win me over though. I didn't see any gameplay footage of it. Maybe they did and I didn't see it. I was a big fan of Driver 3 so I just hope that they continue in that same similar format.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier really caught my eye. I was definitely feeling that stage demo and let me tell you I was amazed. Its a game that's definitely gonna rival the other military based games. It was definitely something different. I loved the way they used the gun system. It was pretty amazing using the call response and motion system with the Kinect. This game could definitely get me to buy another 360 even though I've been through three of them already. I would say this was my favorite game that they featured in the conference.
And of course they save their baby for last, the game everyone was waiting for, Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I loved the stage demo. It looked really good. I loved the cloak and dagger move that Ezio put on the crowd of thugs that surrounded him. That was pretty awesomes. Ezio looked like one old bad ass in the game. Ol'Skool put some moves on'em in the hood. lol
There was no disappointment in that demo. I look forward to playing it when it comes out. If the Tom Clancy Ghost Recon games and Splinter Cell series didn't put UbiSoft on the map then the Assassin's Creed series sure did. It's on fire and setting everything ablaze.
Those were pretty much my favs from UbiSoft. It's definitely a brand that I've connected with. I'll definitely keep an eye out for what they have coming out next. Good job UbiSoft. To another 25 years and beyond.
