Dan Ayoub, Executive Producer of 343 Industries, shows us the difference between the old Halo and the new Halo. I was pretty surprised when I saw this. Its been a long while since I played the original Halo game. I had forgotten what it looked like. It's amazing what a decade makes in terms of remaking a game. The new Halo game shows everything in full detail. I almost want to play this game again. Wow! Check out the video!

Open Beta Registrations For The Secret World
Developer, Funcom Games, has Opened up beta registration for the MMO, The Secret World, over the weekend. I decided to give it a go and register for the game. This would be probably the first MMO type game that I've ever really been interested in because of its uniqueness. The game is not really based on classes. You can reorder your characters status to however you see fit, which means starting out one way doesn't necessarily mean that you have to finish that way. So that's what drew me in. So I headed out to The Secret World web page to sign up. When you get there the page opens up with this video:
After that you're presented with three groups to choose from:
The Illuminati
The Illuminati may have ancient roots, but they remain forever young and hungry. In every growing empire they have played for it all. And they play for keeps. Stealing the Americas from under the Templars' noses, they grew with the United States to become a shadow superpower. Their corporate headquarters, the Labyrinth, is in an undisclosed location beneath Brooklyn, New York.
A whisper of a rumour of a shadow, this Asian group is the most secretive of societies. With no fixed territory or structure, the Dragon have dissolved and reformed throughout history. They believe that a closed, controlled society is a sick society. Only through collapse and rebuilding, the natural chaos of life, can the world be in harmony. Recently, they have taken root in a nameless district of Seoul, Korea.
Proudly tracing their royal lineage back to Babylon, the Templars are the lions of the secret world. When they roar, everyone listens. Old Europe is theirs, and the Templars' marble hall dominates the old London borough of Ealdwic - historic capital of the secret world. It's not just a show of strength. Nothing is just for show with the Templars.
After watching the videos I wasn't sure which group to join. If you're not sure there's this option on the far left side of the screen to choose. From there you will be matched with a group based on a personality test. I tried that option and it matched me with the Illuminati. There were a series of questions asked and that's what I ended up with. I have to say that the Illuminati did not fit my personality at all. They are very cutthroat and they go to the lengths to get what they want by any means necessary.
So I didn't join them. I ended up joining the Dragons. From the video I liked their operation by creating chaos to then form order. I could've went the straight and narrow route and chose the Templars but there was something about rigid order that didn't sit well with me. What I've learned through life is that nothing is ever perfectly in order and I can't live by that type of code. So I said thanks but no thanks to the Templars.
Joining the Dragons suited me just fine. Really all I wanted to do was join a group that used swords. lol Just based on the pictures I've seen from The Secret World they were always in the hands of a Dragon. So I guess my choice was kind of easy. That was pretty much it. After you choose your group there's nothing else you can do. You'll just have to wait for the email letting you know that they've started the beta. The only downside is once you've chosen your group and can't go back. I'm not sure if that's a permanent thing strictly for the beta or for the final version of the game. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
Head over to http://www.thesecretworld.com and join a group now!

Relive The Mortal Kombat Trilogy All Over Again
I remember when the first Mortal Kombat game came out for the first time. I was about 11 years old walking through the Lafayette Square Mall here in Indianapolis. We were walking past the arcades and I saw the Mortal Kombat coin-op. My first thought was like, "Whoa, there are real people in a video game!" I couldn't believe it. I said to myself, "How in the world did they do that?" That was my first experiece of a motion capture video game. I was so amazed that I just had to play.
Of course I didn't know any of the moves but it was just so fun to play. Back then it was a different take on fighting games too. This game was crazy violent for its time. The game was very bloody and gory. They even added fatalities to the end of matches. This was before the days of Super Combos and finishing moves that most games have now. It was the first of its kind. The Street Fighter series didn't really follow suit until a couple years later.
Before I knew it Mortal Kombat had exploded into a near 20 year franchise. It's one of the biggest fighting game franchises to date. It's amazing with Ed Boon and company did with just a few actors, some camera work, and hacking out lines of code to make Mortal Kombat one of the biggest games of all time. Mortal Kombat 3 was probably my favorite game out of the three games of the trilogy. They added a run dash, weapons, and a really significant combo system that rivaled that of Street Fighter II at the time. It was really a great game.
Now Ed Boon and the NetherRealm crew are rolling the trilogy into one huge bundle for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, and PC via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, and the internet. You'll be getting the bundle just for 9.99. Now how sweet is that deal? I just hope that all three games will allow for online play. Look for this download bundle to drop tomorrow! Check out the video.
Captain Shepard Is A She
Over the weekend BioWare unveiled the female version of Captain Shephard. They released what you see above a young red haired vixen. I wasn't really into red heads before but now, I don't know, I could make a switch. She's hot! The final selection was chosen by fans in BioWare's community vote. The artwork was done by Patryk Olejniczak. I'm really looking forward to the release of the game now.

Counter Strike Returns - Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Debut Trailer
Before the Call of Duty and Battlefield games there was Counter Strike. The game has returned in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. I definitely remember Counter Strike. It was the first person shooter that everyone played. You just had to play it. It was the Black Ops game of its day. The game was especially popular with the modding community. People could make that game their own by adding new maps and weapons unlike today's first person shooters. Back then, 2000, first person shooters were just mainly for PC games Take a look at the new announcement trailer.

Madden 12 Is Just 4 Days Away!
Madden is just 4 days away and the NFL regular season is just right around the corner. And here we thought none of it was gonna happen. I don't think I could imagine playing a Madden with no actual NFL football season in play. To me it just wouldn't sound right. I think if it didn't happen I would've skipped out on this years installment of the Madden game.
Luckily they made us, the fans, happy and figured out that players and owners agreement mess and now we have a full season ready to go. If you haven't checked out the demo do it now. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - I Am A Space Marine
I just finished playing the Space Marine demo and now I damn near wanna sign up to be one. lol The demo was great. I thought that it was gonna be some Gears of War Copy but it wasn't. I had fun shooting and beating up my way through those nasty green orks. I actually found myself wanting to play more past the demo portion. I'm actually thinking of buying this game now.
I think that beat'em up factor sealed the deal. The fact that I can shoot and fight at the same time has sold me. I wish that we could do that on Gears of War. I think the best you can do is hit the locusts with the butt of your gun. Just think if you could fight the locust horde the same way that you fight the orks on this game. Gears of War would be a totally different game. And Gears of War series is already great!
The good thing about the Space Marine demo is that you get two demos instead of one. In the first one you're fighting a bunch of Orks. In the second You not only fight a bunch of Orks but you get a jet pack as well. It's similar to Gears of War but this game has its own story and goes a different direction. It's not necessarily as epic as the Gears of War series but this game promises a lot of heavy action as I found out. It would definitely be a great game to play once it releases next month. Download the demo and try it out for yourself. Check out the videos.

The End of An Extraordinary Journey: Steve Jobs Resigns From Apple
It's been a good run but Steve Jobs, head of Apple, calls it quits. It was a really amazing ride. This man single-handedly changed the face of Apple as a company and the way we use modern technology as consumers and professionals. He and his company brought multiple innovations to the forefront like the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Let's not even forget how this journey began with the introduction of the Apple Lisa which was a design based from Xerox's graphical user interface system.
The graphical user interface was such a good idea that it influenced Bill Gates and his company Microsoft to basically copy the idea and integrate it into their Windows 1.0 operating system. That later infuriated Apple which took Microsoft to court over the use of the GUI technology. Both companies would later resolve the matter by having Microsoft not implementing the technology into their Windows 1.0 OS. The resolution did not state that Microsoft could not integrate it into their future operating systems.
Jobs was very essential to Apple. He had a genuineness that drew you in to what whatever he was selling and promoting. Not to mention he did have some really good stuff to sell. He lost a power struggle from the board of directors of Apple and excommunicated himself from the company in 1984. He later started his new company called NeXT which was computer company that specialized in the education and business markets. Jobs came back into the picture via a buyout of his company by Apple's then current CEO Gil Amelio. Steve served as an adviser to the company. Amelio was later ousted by Apple's board of directors due to the company's three year decline in stock prices and financial loss from 1994 to 1997.
After the departure of Amelio and near bankruptcy, Jobs was made interim CEO and began restructuring the company's product line. Jobs and company began to work their magic first by a joint venture with Microsoft in 1997 to Microsoft Office software to Macintosh systems. In 1998 Apple introduced the iMAC which was an all in one system. The iMac featured a unique and modern design with modern technology to match. 800,000 units were sold with in the first 5 months.
Apple also jumped back into the profit game by acquiring software titles like Macromedia's Final Cut, which within 1 year of the purchase turned out iMovie for consumers and Final Cut Pro for digital media professionals. Other software purchases such as Nothing Real's Shake, a digital composition application, and Emagic's Logic, used for music productivity, led to a consumer-level development project named GarageBand.
In March of 2001 Apple released their new operating system called Mac OS X. The operating system featured a heavily overhauled graphic user interface running Unix in the background. The system was created for consumers and professionals alike. The system was more user friendly with a modern and ergonomic feel. Everything was made simple. The system was based on Steve Jobs former company NeXT's OPENSTEP and BSD Unix. Apple would later release future Mac OS X operating systems in the name of animals from the feline species such as, (referring to Mac OS X 10.0 through 10.7), Cheetah, Puma, Jaguar, Panther, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, and the recently released Lion.
In the same year in May Apple opened up its first Apple store and purchased Spruce Technologies, which is a DVD authoring company, in July. In October the company unveiled the IPod, a digital music player. This was one of Apples biggest innovations, if not the biggest, selling over 100 million units in 6 years. 2003 started the opening of the iTunes Store which offers music downloads for 99 cents and seamless integration with the IPod via iTunes software.
In 2006 Apple started using Intel processors in they're systems. The first systems to get the upgrade from their product line were the Macbook Pro and the iMac which received the Intel Core Duo processor. Other systems would be integrated with Intel processors within the same year. In 2007 Apple changed it's company name to Apple Inc. due to the fact that they no longer focused just on computers. The company had extended its brand to the mobile phone market. At the Mac World Expo, January 9th, 2007 Jobs announced the innovations of the iPhone and Apple TV. The next day Apple's stock price rose to an all time high of $97.80 and later surpassed the $100 mark in May of the same year.
Apple's latest and greatest innovation would be that of the iPad which was basically a giant iPhone. The iPad runs the same touch based operating system as the iPhone and is compatible with many of the iPhone applications. With it's release April 3rd, 2010 more that 300,000 units of the iPad device were sold in the United States on the first day and reached upwards over 500,000 the first week.
Over the years Jobs's health appeared to be deteriorating. In 2004 he announced to his employees that he had pancreatic cancer. He successfully had the tumor removed in July of the same year without the need of chemotherapy. In his absence Tim Cook, head of worldwide sales and operations, upheld his role as CEO.
In 2009 Steve addressed to his Apple employees of his worsening health in a company memo which also announced his six month leave of absence. In April of the same year he underwent a liver transplant which was also a success. Earlier this year in January Jobs was granted medical leave by Apple to focus on his health leaving Tim Cook in charge of daily operations once again. Despite Steve's health scare and medical leave he was able to attend the iPad 2 launch event in March and the WWDC keynote address in June unveiling the iCloud.
"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."
With that announcement yesterday Steve Jobs announced his resignation electing Tim Cook to be CEO of the company. With Cook replacing him as CEO he would serve as Apple's chairman of the board. It's very sad to see him go this way. The guy is an innovative genius that change the face of technology for both consumers and professionals and changed the game for other companies. He and his company made innovations that worked seamlessly and ergonomically for customers. After Jobs's resignation Apple witnessed a 5 percent drop in their share price.
The mobile market is a bull market largely in part due to the addition of the iPhone allowing other companies to compete against Apple with touch based operating systems such as the Android OS. Apple even single-handedly created the mobile tablet market with their iPad creation forcing other companies to join in the frey and produce their own versions of the innovation. You can't help but wonder where Apple's future lies. Sure they have their new CEO in place but he's no Steve Jobs. You've gotta have a collective group of people to match his innovative mind and business savvy. It's gonna be interesting to see how Apple handles their business without Steve's complete involvment.

Super Nintendo 20th Anniversary
I've had so many memories with Super Nintendo. I've played so many memorable games like Street Fighter II, Zelda 3: A Link To The Past, Super Mario World, and Donkey Kong Country. I used to play hours and hours on that thing. Street Fighter was my number one game to play on it. There was one time that I was so good that I was able to play and win with every single character in the game. I found that out playing my friend's cousin in an all night fight session.
For a moment I thought that the fight was gonna go from the Super Nintendo to real life. Just imagine a small 13 year old kid playing Street Fighter 2 against a gargantuan 6'3" high school football defensive lineman full of rage. He was so full of rage because I spent the whole night whooping his butt in Street Fighter. I never saw a guy so mad because of a videogame before that night. He never won a match against me the whole night. I was lucky that I didn't get pounded on. I was smart not to instigate the matter. lol

Step Into Another World - Portal: No Escape by Dan Trachtenberg
I just found an awesome Portal fan made short film by Dan Trachtenberg via YouTube. I would love to see a full show or series out of this. I just watched it and it looks really good. I haven't had the chance to play Portal or Portal 2 much. The times that I have I really didn't understand the whole Portal thing. Let's just say getting from point a to b was a particular challenge. lol Now that I've watched this short I know now how to play the game. I feel really dumb right now. Excellent work to Dan. He really made a great video. I'm all caught up in the Portal universe now. Take a look!
Human Devourers - Aliens: Colonial Marines - Gamescom Demo Interview
I always hated these aliens or xenomorphs as their know to cult fans of the Aliens movies. To me they were the nastiest of all the TV and movie aliens. Ripley defnitely had her work cut out for her. I couldn't even imagine dealing with those nasty, double set teeth, acid mouthed things. The worst part was that their saliva and blood were both acidic. Now that sucks. And speaking of sucks, I hated those facehuggers. I think Iraq had something similar with those so called sand spiders. Their just as nasty.
I was always a big fan of the movies but not so much with the games. I've played a few of the previous console games but none of them really won me over. This particular game expands on the original James Cameron classic Aliens movie. It sort of expands, or finishes, the story of Aliens depending on how you view it. Check out the latest and greatest upcoming Aliens game.
Your Once, Twice, Three Times The Virtua Fighter - Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown
It's been a long time since I've played a game from the Virtua Fighter series. I haven't played a game from this series since Virtua Fighter 3. Before that, Virtua Fighter 2 on my Dreamcast. That was my favorite one. Virtua Fighter 5 on the other hand seemed to be Sega's biggest game from this series. It's been remixed twice over for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. The game was originally released in 2006.
Now Sega has announced today that they're sending off Virtua Fighter 5 with a bang. Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown will be released for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 for summer 2012. Final Showdown will be a stand alone downloadable expansion to the previous versions of Virtua Fighter 5. The game will feature new arenas, modes, and 2 new characters, the E Honda like Taka-Arashi from Virtua Fighter 3, and newcomer, Jean Kujo.
Final Showdown will also house a multiplayer function and promises no latency or lag just as the recently released Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition does. So you hear that now gamers? No excuses to why you lose online or false claims of glitch cheating or online manipulation. We play to win! Now if they can make NBA 2K play with no latency. I'd be the baddest dude on the court. lol Check out the video.
Ooooh! A Dragon Punch To The Face!: Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition
I've been patiently waiting for this game to come out. Ok, I've been not so patiently waiting for this game to be released. I pre-ordered it last week and I've been checking the PlayStation Store like crazy since then. Well today is the day and it's still not here. Hey, what gives? If something is supposed to arrive at a particular date shouldn't be there at the beginning of the day? I was waiting around twelve in the morning so that I could go ahead and download it and to my amazement it wasn't there. This is probably the latest release I've ever seen.
Ok maybe I'm just a little crazed about this game after all I am a Street Fighter fan. I literally grew up with Street Fighter. These were the games my brothers and I played to pass the time and let out some aggression. It was either that or busting each others heads in my mom's house and she wasn't having any of that. Any game that has Ken and Ryu in it I'm playing it. They're my favorite legacy characters and Street Fighter wouldn't be Street Fighter without those two.
Though I already have this game for my Dreamcast I haven't played it in a while. I really reinvested into this game the second time around to play other gamers online with this title. Before when I had it for my Dreamcast it was just me, my brothers, and a few other friends. I never really went out to the arcades to play people. I hated the joysticks on the machines. I was a console kid. So challenging some new fresh faces was my goal. I also wanted this online edition so that I could upload my matches to YouTube. It would be nice to upload my gameplay to my WeLoveGamez YouTube profile.
So we maybe just a few minutes to a couple of hours of receiving this game. Man, I wish they would hurry up already. My fingers are twitching. lol If you haven't seen what all you can do in this new online edition check out the video here.

The Out-Cast: Episode 19 - What's the Happs Special... WTF?!?
With Gwyn out of the country and a myriad of technical difficulties I was supprised when what showed up in my inbox but a new Out-Cast ready to go. Gwyn had this to say about it:
Hey there everyone! Gwyn here, posting this from an undisclosed secret location.
We have had a list of technical issues with this episode of the podcast
thats extreme even for us. But despite these, and despite being literally an
ocean apart, the Crew has managed to get some new content together, so please

Way back in June 2010, Xenoblade Chronicles debuted at #1 in its week of release in Japan, selling 83,000 copies. Puzzling then to read that not alone did Nintendo not anticipate the demand for the game in Eu, with numerous retailers already reporting stock shortages less than a week after
G4 Films Presents: Against The Wall
I think I'm beginning to like the G4 Films series. They're documentaries and short films are really interesting. They just released this one called Against The Wall. It's a short film that examines the nature of technology and the influence of gaming.
Directed by David Capurso and written by Jeff Haber, "Against The Wall" tells the story of a young couple exploring a park tucked away in an old industrial area. They arrive upon a mysterious building called Blockworld that's been abandoned for decades. While the man is eager to discover what's inside, the woman is hesitant to go in, choosing instead to wait for him... ~ G4 Films

Transcend Your Soul: Soul Calibur 5 - Official GamesCom 2011 Gameplay
I've always been a Soul Calibur fan ever since the days of the Sega Dreamcast. I just always loved the weapon combat. My favorite character was always Kilik with the staff bow. You could pull off some decent combo attacks with him. I can't believe the series has reached its fifth game. The series pretty much stands up in the crowd with the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Take a look at this new trailer of the fifth installment of the series.
Gamescom 2011 GoldenEye 007: Reloaded Interview With James Steer
007: GoldenEye is coming back yet a third time around. It re-released for the Nintendo Wii last year and will now be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 very shortly. I remember playing this game on the Nintendo 64 years ago. Man we had some good times playing that game. It's still a cult classic today. It was one of the first games that included multiplayer environments and allowed you to play against your friends in a local match. The graphics for the game weren't necessarily the best but you were guaranteed hours of fun gameplay. It was certainly one of the greatest shooters of all time.
Now the game has been rebooted a second time around with better graphics coupled with added gameplay and additional featured elements. Watch the video as Maxwell McGee, from Gamespot, interviews James Steer, Activision Producer, about the upcoming James Bond game.

Check out the opening scene to Gears of War 3. It features none other than the beautiful Anya Stroud. She's always been a part of the game as a mission liaison to Marcus Fenix and crew but now you'll get to play as her as she joins in on the fight. Watch as she talks about the events on Sera and their struggles between their old enemy, the locusts, and their new tougher enemy, the lambent.
When There's Nowhere Else Left To Run: Hitman Absolution Interview with Christian Elverdam
I really can't wait for this game to be released. I want to try all the new elements that IO Interactive has included in the new Hitman game. Watch as IO Interactive's Gameplay Director, Christian Elverdam, talks in depth about the upcoming game and its new additions in full detail.
Gamescom 2011: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Updated Hands-On Preview
It sometimes sucks to buy a game only to have the developers take that same game and make it even better. You kind of feel like you've been cheated. You would think that whatever the developers left out or were hoping to add later would be done via a DLC pack for your downloading pleasures. Well that didn't necessarily happen for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. No DLC was added. As a matter of fact the developers went back to the drawing board and added more characters, levels, and new elements.
Now being an owner of the original game you would have to say that something like this sucks big time. For someone who has yet to purchase the game, such as myself, I would say this is really awesome. I would also say that I'm glad that I didn't buy the original Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 game. lol The developers of Capcom have added 12 more characters and I believe 8 new levels for the game.
The game now features new characters marvel superhero Dr. Strange and Resident Evil antagonist Nemesis. Ultimate MVC 3 also garners a return of the fan favorite Stryder Hiryu. The game also includes an X-Factor feature that can server as a major game changer in matches. Watch as Capcom producer Ryota Niitsuma and special adviser Seth Killian discuss changes in UMvC3.
