This is the part of the blog where I've been really slacking and I need to pick it up more. The classic game of the day, today is The Getaway. Its a definite kill or be killed type of game. I remember when this game first came out. I was so into it. Its only been 6 years since the original release. So I don't know i

f it constitutes as a classic game to you guys but to me it does. I've recently started playing this game again on my PlayStation 2. Believe it or not I still had the original save of where I left off in the game. I decided to start from the beginning though because so much time had passed by since I last played it. The reason why I call this a classic is because of its story. The game has a pretty decent plot to it. So decent that I'm surprised that no one has written a script to it and turned it into a movie. I would definitely go see it. The story starts out in London when Mark Hammond's wife, Suze, is killed and their son is kidnapped. Later Mark finds out that it's the big London crime boss, Charlie Jolson, who has his son kidnapped and held captive. Charlie has Mark do a series of dirty jobs in order to get his son back. The game to me is pretty fun even with the gameplay being a little off with the controls. They really try to stick to real life physics in the game. For instan

ce in some car games you're able to just basically drive and literally smash through any car without too much trouble. In this game if you hit a car you hit a car as if it was a real life car accident. The car you hit is basically immobile dead weight and hard to move through. So hard you have to reverse your car and take a different route. You're car is definitely affected by it too. With continued damage to your car it gradually begins to smoke and slow in speed then eventually catches on fire. The annoying part of the game is when you hit lightposts and guardrails. Those definitely do you car major damage. If you get hit by a car you're dead. There no getting up

from it. When you get shot a considerable number of times you die. There's no health bar that gauges how much power you have. Your character will show how hurt he is though. You can heal yourself by just finding a quiet spot to rest. There's a lot of action in the game and it's really hard to play. You have to dodge a lot of bullets and make some pretty bold moves. When the police and your enemies give pursuit its really hard to lose them. You have to get really creative with your driving. This game is tough and you have to be really good to manuever through it. I used a codebreakers disc to get through the game. It would have been impossible for me to progress without it. The story really kept me playing through it. I haven't beat it yet but I'm close. The downside like I said before are those damned controls. They're really blocky and clunky to use. You really have to pay attention to what you're doing to get ahead in the game. If you're not gonna play this game for its gameplay play it for the decent story and plots and tough challenge.
