I've been in a series of matches with my brother as of late and he seems to keep finding himself on the shorter end of the stick. I seem to be on a winning streak versus him within the last week. He just can't find a answer for my passing offense. I'm all over the field too. I say he's cheating on my offense constantly playing pass and I'm exploiting it. He says otherwise.
We played another game this weekend and he seemed to have the edge early. I had the Eagles and he had the Seahawks. I thought I would have the edge at first but I found myself unable to have a successful pass game. It didn't help matters any better when he got that easy kick off return for a touchdown. That really made me mad. I didn't give up but I just couldn't get over the hump the whole game.
My brother normally plays the run but for this game he really stepped it up on the passing. I was a little surprised and I didn't really have answer in the beginning. I was lucky enough to stop him in key moments to keep the game close. Somehow I miraculously found a way to come back and the game was tied a 24 a piece in the 4th quarter. I definitely dodged a bullet on a sure fire loss.
So luckily I make it into overtime but unfortunately he gets the ball first. Like I said my brother was doing really well with his passing as he just marched down the field. So he manages to get to the endzone. At this point I'm chalking it up as a loss but I managed to hold him to 4th and 1. I would not let him get that TD just for the simple fact that my brother loves to run up the score to show that he's clearly better than me but he's not. Actually we're pretty square even. I have advantages with throwing and he with running.
Luckily my defense stands their ground and this is what happens.
He kicks the field goad. The score was 27 - 24, Seahawks. End of game right? Nope, but that's what we thought though. lol So we both get up from the couch but we didn't realize that the game was still playing. My brother looked and saw that the game wasn't over. So I quickly picked up my controller. I was so confused. We both were.
What we didn't realize was that the new overtime rules were implemented into the game. This meant by my brother only kicking the field goal gave me the option to continue playing and actually have a chance to score. We couldn't understand how we overlooked it. This clearly must have been our first overtime game on Madden 11.
I was so happy that the game wasn't over. My brother though, not so much. lol so with my first play of the over time this is what happened.
Yeah, that's right! I got a 36 yard pass from Michael Vick to DeSean Jackson. That was the start of my drive. We actually ended up in double overtime. Prior to that with 3 seconds left in the first overtime I got an 18 yard pass with DeSean Jackson on 4th down. At this point I'm just taking whatever I get and running with it. This is what happened next.
I made an 11 yard run with Vick pushing me closer towards the endzone. This was a good time, more than ever, to run the ball. It was one of those times where I felt that my brother was playing the pass way too much and luckily I got that gain. After that I closed the deal to win the game with this sweet play.
Game over 30 - 27, Eagles. A 14 yard strike from Vick to Riley Cooper to seal the deal. This was probably one of the best games that I ever played. It seems like I always play better coming back in a game after being down. The weirdest string of events always seem to happen when I play. I felt like an idiot not realizing the new overtime rules were in Madden 11 but I just rolled with the punches and kept playing.
So with that game ending, and me winning, my brother took yet another loss. The look on his face was priceless. It really felt good winning that game and giving my brother his 6th loss against me. I made it even worse by giving him his 7th loss yesterday. So by now he's a heated bull ready to gouge me in the stomach. I'm loving every bit of it. Maybe next game bro. lol
I love the new rule change. It keeps the game honest and allows both teams to have a chance to win the game. You don't have to cowardly lion your way to a victory. I'm putting this up so that we will never forget the overtime rules ever again. lol
