Wow for a gaming company with twenty years under their belt they sure don't have a lot titles in their library. Seriously, I went to their website and saw only a handful of games that were listed for their entire existence as a company. I guess it doesn't really matter when three of your games each sell millions of copies basically doing all of the ground work. Teaming up with Microsoft didn't hurt either. I'm sure that Microsoft made sure that Bungie wanted for nothing to get them to crank three of the greatest franchise games in history.
I never played their first four games Gnop, Pathways, Marathon, and Myth, though. Back then I didn't have a PC. I was just a kid. I didn't even get my first PC till 1998 before headed off to college. I did have their 5th game Oni. I always thought that it was just a RockStar game. Turns out Bungie had a part in creating the game too. I still have the game. Imagine my surprise when I flipped the case to the back and saw Bungie's name right a long side the name of RockStar. That was a neat piece of gaming history.
Now its onwards towards the future for Bungie. Separating from Microsoft, Bungie has plans to go solo. Their first endeavor since the big break is to go mobile. I found this kind of interesting. After making great games like Halo they decide to go small why? I found out why its to help the little guys. Its to help the small gaming developers who seek to put their games on the map in the gaming industry. That's why Bungie started Bungie Aerospace. They'll be helping, alongside Seattle based gaming company, Hairbrained Schemes, to develop mobile and social games.
Don't think that Bungie is totally out of the console market yet. They've got a page on their website announcing that they're looking for talented PlayStation 3 developers. So we may see Bungie titles for the PlayStation 3, finally, soon enough. I hope the PlayStation 3 get's an epic title from Bungie similar to Halo. I guess we'll find out soon enough. I know its a little belated but Happy Birthday Bungie. Hope you have another great twenty years.
