From Black Ops onward Call of Duty Elite will be a part of the Call of Duty Franchise. The service takes players into a more in-depth community where they can analyze their progress or others, engage in matches, and form online friendships and like minded groups. It immerses players deeper into the Call of Duty world. Gamers will be able to access the Call of Duty Elite service from virtually anywhere. The service is free but for a subscription fee you'll be able to gain more exclusive content and also compete for prizes.
It's an ingenious endeavor by Activision and Treyarch but I wouldn't want to invest time in a game like this 24/7. I like playing my other games as well. On the other hand though they do have a massive fan base so I can see why the set something like this in motion. Who am I to talk? I play NBA 2K 11 religiously. lol I still won't pay for an extra extension to the game though. I think that is what's bothering me. I don't want to pay $50 or $60 for a game then go online and pay for an extended service for it. I just can't do it. I'll buy a DLC once and awhile but a subscripted service is out of the question for me. I've got too many other things to pay for.
Activision and Treyarch are definitely on that Field of Dreams - "If you make it they will come" trend right now. It just may very well work since their fan base for the Call of Duty universe is so high right at the moment. Especially with the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game releasing later this year. Gamers can go now and sign up for the Call of Duty Elite beta service right now.
