Functional cloud services are sprouting up all over the internet these days the "way of the cloud" becomes more and more significant online. Cloud services are gradually becoming our future of our daily on goings online. Everything we do online these days is on the fly and multi-connected. You listen to music on Blip.fm and post to your friends on your Facebook wall what song is playing. You can play a game on your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and the particular game that your playing will report what achievements or trophies you've accomplished on Twitter or Facebook. These days many of us live our lives online letting our friends and others know what we like as far as interests are concerned.
OnLive seems to harbor that light of the cloud revolution. OnLive is a gaming service where we literally play games on the fly via the cloud. This means there is no waiting to play a game. If its there and you like it you play it right then and there. As soon as you rent or purchase a game you're automatically playing it.
Lately I've been getting the notion to try this service out. Actually I signed up back in 2009 when it was firsting starting out. I even got a free year subscription out of it for being one of the first people to join. The sad part is that I never really took advantage of my free subscription. Now with cloud game gradually becoming a major trend I'm wanting to engage in the cloud gaming experience. It's not really expensive to join and they have a decent sized gaming library.
OnLive has a 9.99 monthly subscription plan where you will have access to over 60 plus popular titles. You can also buy games at their regular prices where you'll always have access to them via OnLive. If you're not ready to make any major purchases then they have free trials on mostly everything they have. Once you do decide to join OnLive the only thing you download is a setup file which is only a little over 1mb. This setup file connects your PC to OnLive and their portal. Once you're in the portal you can play games within your subscription bundle or purchase games to play.
The OnLive portal is where you meet your friends, purchase games, play games, watch as a spectator in the arena, and watch the "brag clips" of other players. The service is not bad at all. You don't worry about load times, there are no physical mediums to worry about, and gameplay for the most part is very fluid. There are no start or stop issues with this service provide that you have adequate bandwidth for your connection. You don't even need to configure your game controller. It basically auto configures itself. If you want to experience cloud gaming for yourself then check out OnLive.
